NYC Programme / About NYC

Navigate Your Career (NYC) is a corporate social responsibility programme by MISC Berhad (MISC).

The programme is aimed at creating awareness amongst Malaysian undergraduates on the importance of soft skills, besides strong academic qualifications in determining your future success.

Soft skills are the intangible, non-technical skills that you won’t find in your textbooks. These skills reflect your personality and the way you present yourself. They include strong presentation and communication skills (verbal and written), resourcefulness, analytical and problem-solving abilities, good time management, and teamwork.

More and more, employers today cite a lack of ‘soft skills’ as the main reason why many local graduates fail to secure first-time employment. Government statistics show that as many as 70% of local undergraduates were rejected in 2006 – mainly due to their lack of soft skills.

Through NYC, undergraduates will gain invaluable opportunities to experience and understand what soft skills entail and why employers list this as a very high priority above academic qualifications.

We will bring to your campus a unique series of soft skills workshops presented by experienced professionals. At the end of each workshop, you will be given the opportunity to interact with MISC. At the Dialogue sessions you will also gain an insight to working life where MISC industry experts will share real-life experiences and how soft skills play a very important role in day-to-day operations.

Check out the NYC Events section for details and activities coming to your campus soon!
